T.M. "Roe" Patterson

Founder, Chairman, and CEO

T. M. “Roe” Patterson is a 28-year Energy Industry veteran. He has worked in, owned, managed and operated multiple businesses across the energy spectrum. Currently, he owns and invests in multiple businesses inside and outside of the energy space, playing varying roles in each venture’s governance including CEO, Chairman of the Board, Board Member and Adviser. He served as CEO, President and Board Member of Basic Energy Services (“Basic”) from September 2013 until January of 2020. Patterson’s roots are grounded in the oil and gas business. He grew up working for his father in the family's business, Patterson Drilling Company. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University, Patterson joined West Texas Caterpillar for a year before rejoining Patterson Drilling Company as a Contract/Sales Manager for its Permian Basin Division. After four years, in 2000, he left Patterson to form his own manufacturing and oilfield service company, TMP Companies, Inc., until he sold out in late 2005 and joined Basic’s management team in 2006.

Roe Patterson was awarded the Fort Worth Business Press Public Company CEO of the Year Award in 2014 and was a nominee for the Fort Worth Chamber Susan Halsey Executive Leadership Award in 2016. In 2018, Roe published his first book Crude Blessings, about his father’s life and oilfield business. Roe recently served on the United States National Petroleum Council under the United States Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry. In addition, Roe is currently on the Texas Tech Rawls College of Business Advisory Council. He does professional speaking on leadership and the Energy Industry.
